Understanding Financial Accounts
What is covered?
A review of the role and content of financial statements, how to perform a high-level financial analysis, and demystifying financial/accounting jargon. The course is highly interactive, and participants are encouraged to ask questions and contribute to discussions.
Who will benefit?
Participants who are new to finance, and need to be able to make sense of financial statement and to converse more confidently with finance specialists.
Course content
- The nature of profit and cash flow
- Accrual-based accounting
- The role and content of the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement
- Understanding the structure of financial accounts
- Some key accounting ratios
- An introduction to financial analysis
- Financial analysis in practice
